Mitsubishi Electric's new product philosophy
The new product philosophy New Dimensions - Automation Power from
Mitsubishi Electric stands for innovative products and optimised, application-focused
operating concepts that give users more functionality and performance
across the board. The Ratingen-based automation specialists' new slogan
expresses their commitment to outstanding technological expertise and
reliability. Mitsubishi Electric always works to give its customers more
than standard, off-the-shelf components. The engineering brief is as simple
as it is ambitious: to develop an ideal combination of hardware and software
that provides users with optimum support in all phases of their work.
Mitsubishi Electric is one of the world's biggest electronics companies
with a huge pool of expertise in many high-tech fields. This makes it
possible to utilise synergies in which basic research and application
development form ideal complements to one another. The spectrum extends
all the way from communications systems and high-speed data networks to
satellite technology. The company is also one of the world's leading semiconductor
manufacturers, playing a key role in the development of advanced new technologies.
It is no coincidence that the resulting chips are found not only in Mitsubishi
components but also in the products of many other manufacturers. This
concentrated expertise is the solid foundation that Mitsubishi Electric
builds on, ensuring that all its products deliver exceptional performance
and reliability, with minimal failure rates. At the same time, the uncompromising
commitment to reducing component number and increasing the integration
of the electronics results in unusually compact products. High technology
in a compact package is one of the characteristic features of all products
from Mitsubishi Electric.
These hardware development efforts are accompanied by an equally uncompromising
commitment to software optimisation. The main focus here is on the analysis
of pro cesses and product requirements in real, everyday industrial applications.
Close collaboration with customers' own automation experts helps to
perfect the user-optimised operating concept, ensuring that all functions
of Mitsubishi's innovative products can be used quickly, easily and efficiently.
All these hardware, software and customer usability efforts pay off in
the form of automation products with a significant efficiency edge. The
products described below are just four characteristic examples of the
resulting "automation power" that Mitsubishi Electric delivers with this
approach.
System Q
The System Q line of controllers is a new addition to the MELSEC PLC
family introduced in the middle of last year. It features integrated motion
controller functions, IT technology, full online change capability and
the ability to install up to four individual CPUs, combined with even
smaller product size. The PLC and motion controller can be installed on
a single module rack, and together they can control up to 128 axes simultaneously.
At the HMI, together with its many other new products, Mitsubishi Electric
is going to present the first Q System with a facility for an integrated
Slot PC.
FX1S/ FX1N
The successor of the popular FX0S/ FX0N combines even more compact dimensions
with significantly more power and versatility. Features include comprehensive
network capabilities and compatibility, greater memory capacities, faster
cycle periods and optimised counter inputs and output signals. This makes
FX1S/ FX1N an ideal choice for applications in mechanical engineering,
the motor industry, wood working, the packaging industry and environmental
systems.
The FX1S/ FX1N is Mitsubishi Electric's impressive response to growing
demands on compact PLC systems. Users want more system and application
performance, more network support and more value for money. And that is
exactly what Mitsubishi delivers. In keeping with the New Dimensions motto,
the FX1S/ FX1N is significantly more compact and powerful, and support
for optional expansion cards makes it even more versatile than its predecessors.
RH-5AH
A reach of 550 mm and a maximum handling payload of 5 kg qualify the
RH-5AH for a very broad range of applications. It is also no slouch when
it comes to speed (up to 5,360 mm/s) and repeatability (±0.02 mm). And
all this performance is delivered in a remarkably slim design; the drive
unit is the world's smallest SCARA controller, packing the entire electronics
into an enclosure the size of a shoebox.
MR-J2-Super
Rapidly-expanding markets like the IT and home entertainment industries
are constantly pushing the miniaturisation and quality envelopes. To keep
up, both manufacturing machines and the components used in them always
have to be a step ahead of the market. Mitsubishi Electric's new MR-J2-Super
servo series fulfils and exceeds these requirements, delivering outstanding
synchronisation performance, extreme precision and super-short positioning
times.
The state-of-the-art servo technology used in these systems satisfy the
need for ever shorter cycle periods combined with more exacting production
tolerances. Comprehensive automatic configuration systems enable precise
calibration of servo drives like the new MR-J2-Super without the need
for expensive instrumentation. The system can even register and automatically
compensate for mechanical changes.
New Dimensions
These new products literally deliver new dimensions of technical performance
and functionality for discriminating users who demand the utmost from
their automation systems.
